The last time we sent out a newsletter, we were in the early stages of setting up a Healing Rooms ministry operating at the Prayerhub premises in Bacup. Following a significant amount of prayer and preparation, including taster and training sessions for healing ministry, Healing Rooms Rossendale is now operational. At the moment, ‘open to the public’ sessions are on the afternoon of the first Wednesday of every Month. On the first day of opening, there were so many who came that the session ran over time. The next session is on Wednesday 1st April, 2-3.30pm. It is a time and place to experience the power of God to heal. More healing ministry training will be held in the future. This is not just for those who may want to join a Healing Rooms team, but also for people wanting to take healing ministry back to their churches.
A wider prayer and healing ministry continues to operate at the Prayerhub, so please feel free to contact us for prayer if you need it.
ISRAEL, THE CHURCH AND PROPHECY
Some time ago, I was contacted about the possibility of hosting a meeting led by Chuck Cohen from Intercessors for Israel. Methodist Friends of Israel are organizing a UK tour and Rossendale is now one of the venues. On Thursday 30th April at 7.30pm Chuck will speak on ‘Israel, the Church and Prophecy’. This will be at Central Methodist Church, Burnley Road, Bacup OL13 8AB. Central are kindly allowing us to use their premises. A poster for the event is attached to this email. The venue is a good size so we are inviting folk from a wide radius around Rossendale to come along. Chuck is an international speaker and this is a rare opportunity. At a time when the Middle East is in the news for all kinds of negative reasons, it will be good to get some true biblical input and perspective on this emotive issue.
There is no need to book and there is no admission charge. We will take a love offering during the service to help cover tour costs and to give a gift to Chuck. Please let people know about this through your own contacts.
Last November, Tony Campolo and Graham Kendrick came to Rossendale as part of the Compassion Tour. It was a memorable evening. Compassion is a Christian organisation which facilitates the sponsoring of children in third world countries. They also support the local church in the communities where those children live so that Christian education and worship are part of the child’s life and upbringing. Each time another child is sponsored, the world is changed; their world and the lives of every person that child will touch through their whole life. In Rossendale, the church leaders have taken this on board and we want to raise the bar and eventually see the people of Rossendale sponsor 500 children: ‘the Rossendale 500’. Does that seem impossible? Is it not a privilege to bring a child out of poverty into a brighter future? Maybe this is a dream today, but may it become reality tomorrow.
Please contact me if you want more information about sponsorship. Contact details are below in the section headed ‘website’. Even if you live outside of Rossendale you can still be part of this!
You probably haven’t noticed, but there’s an election coming up! On a serious note, this is a serious issue. The popularity rating of politicians is at low ebb, there’s a general mistrust of the promises being made and young people in particular seem unwilling to commit to vote for anybody at all. The greater number of parties now commanding significant support leaves the prediction of the outcome wide open. If that was not enough, sections of the media are seeking to expose the misdemeanours of as many candidates as they can. All of which adds to the general atmosphere of cynicism about our whole democratic process. What is the truth?
I’m not going into any policy issues here except for one: what are the values of the kingdom of God and how do the promises and track records of people asking for our vote measure up against the kingdom? As Christians, expecting the return of the Saviour and King who rules over the kingdom of God, those are the values we ‘voted for’ and ‘signed up’ for when we committed our lives to Jesus. May I suggest that we keep those in mind as we pray for wisdom on how to vote and ask God to open our eyes and ears to discern the truth. If you want some input, see the kingdom manifesto - the Bible. May I suggest you also look at the ‘Quick Links’ on our website. You’ll find there a number of Christian organisations that are based on God’s kingdom values and which strive to practise God’s policies at national and international level.

It is our heart's desire to see revival - for many individuals to come to Christ, for many to be healed and for there to be healing of relationships and families throughout our community. Only God can do this and we pray for a mighty outpouring of his Holy Spirit.
