The days are getting longer. Snowdrops are already in bloom and crocuses and daffodils are pushing their way out of the cold earth. As the season of the year moves toward spring, all manner of life, plant and animal, will move into greater activity and growth as the sun warms the earth. Winter is on its way out, even if we don’t yet feel the warmth of spring. Some of you folk have been going through a winter season in your lives when it seemed like God was distant and there seemed to be no way through. There have been many trials and perplexities in your life. In the natural world, we know that plants need a winter season to enable them to be strong for the new growth in spring. And likewise, the Holy Spirit is your strength and will cause you to break through as you continue to trust in the Lord, however difficult it is, however hard your ‘winter’ has been. You have remained faithful and the Lord sees your heart. When Jesus said some hard things, many deserted him, but a few remained faithful. They did not understand why it had to be so hard but, as Peter said: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and come to know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6: 68,69 ESV). May you come to know the glory of the Lord in your life, refreshing, recovery and healing. In Isaiah 43, we read:
1But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemedyou;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour;
18”Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Shekinah Orphanage and School
I wrote in our last newsletter that Eunice, one of the Prayerhub folk has answered God’s call to set up an orphanage and school in her native Zimbabwe. On her last trip over, she found the piece of land that was just as the Lord had shown her. The plan is to set up a self-sustaining community, growing its own crops and keeping livestock. Electricity will be generated by solar panels and the
bricks used to construct all the buildings, including the housing units, will be made on site with a brick making machine designed especially for use in Africa. When it is complete, children will live in groups of four in small houses, each with its own house parents. There will also be a school on the site. The project will also bring a boost to the local economy. It is named ‘Shekinah’ because Eunice knows that all the glory belongs to the Lord.
Eunice returns to Mbiru village, Masasa in Chivhu, Zimbabwe, the location for the orphanage, in the second half of March. On April 11th, there will be an official ‘ground breaking’ ceremony when various dignitaries will be present to witness the launch of the project. She will also be due then to pay the $5000 deposit for the land. She has been trusting the Lord for the deposit and also the money to fund the ground breaking ceremony. At the Prayerhub, we have been privileged to support Eunice in prayer and financially. We really appreciate your prayer support for the project. If you also are led to give financial support, this can be done through the Prayerhub (she does not yet have a separate account here in the UK for the project). If you wish to give by cheque, make it payable to ‘Prayerhub’ and mark it on the back ‘Shekinah Orphanage’. We will make sure 100% of your gift is passed on to the project. If you are giving by cash, please put it in an envelope marked up Shekinah Orphanage and give it to a member of the Prayerhub to pay over to Eunice. Thank you for your support. There are many obstacles still in the way, but we trust the Holy Spirit to bring strength for Eunice and the other members of the Board to overcome. Please pray for their wisdom, courage, strength and faith and that they never lose sight of God’s vision for the project.
Other members of the Prayerhub team continue to be used by the Lord in various situations and we are blessed to see his work done through the Paryerhub, transforming peoples’ lives. We thank you all for your participation in prayer with our ministry.
Opening times for March and April
Jan and I will be away for most of March and into early April. During that time, the prayer meetings will continue on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday lunchtime, but the centre will not be open to visitors on Wednesdays 10am to 4pm throughout March and part of April. Please check the website if you are in doubt. Full Wednesday opening will resume on 19th April.
Thank you for your prayers.
